Accuracy of portable spirometers in the diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A meta-analysis

This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the feasibility and diagnostic accuracy of handheld/portable spirometers for the detection of COPD. Results indicated that portable spirometers were associated with high accuracy, and could be used as an alternative to traditional pulmonary function testing in the screening, primary diagnosis, and subsequent monitoring of COPD. The Vitalograph COPD-6 device had a diagnostic accuracy of 91%.
