This study examined the effects of prior self-control exertion on the sense of breathing effort and time to task failure during an incremental inspiratory pressure-threshold loading test in 14 healthy non-smoking adults. During the first study visit, subjects underwent pulmonary function testing (FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio), which was performed using a calibrated Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
