Association of smoking cessation with airflow obstruction in workers with silicosis: A cohort study

This retrospective cohort study examined the association between tobacco smoking and airflow obstruction in 4481 silicotic or silica dust-exposed workers in Hong Kong, China. Lung function (FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio) was measured at baseline and after a mean follow-up period of 9.4 years using a Vitalograph wedge bellows spirometer.
