Effects of hyperventilation on oxygenation, apnea breaking points, diving response, and spleen contraction during serial static apneas

This study examined the effect of hyperventilation, as compared with normal breathing, on oxygenation, apnea breaking points, diving response, and splenic contraction during serial breath-holding in 18 volunteers with little or no experience in freediving. As part of the study, SVC was measured using the Vitalograph Compact Expert spirometer.
