Oesophageal Doppler guided goal-directed haemodynamic therapy in thoracic surgery - A single centre randomized parallel-arm trial

Disease Areas:
Other
Device Types:
In2itive

This randomized, parallel-arm trial investigated whether esophageal Doppler monitoring-guided intra-operative hemodynamic management reduced the rate of post-operative pulmonary complications, as compared with conventional hemodynamic management, in 100 patients undergoing lung surgery. The primary endpoint was in-hospital post-operative pulmonary complications; secondary endpoints included acute kidney injury, cardiac morbidity, clinically relevant hypotensive episodes, neurological morbidity, pleural effusion, and pain intensity at rest and mobilization. Lung function testing (FEV1, VC, PEF) was undertaken in the first 3 days post-surgery using the Vitalograph In2itive spirometer.
