PPARα intron 7 G/C polymorphism, physical strength phenotypes and bone health status in Malay female athletes

This study examined the distribution and association of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-⍺ intron 7 G/C polymorphism with aerobic and anaerobic performance in female Malaysian athletes aged 15–17 years (n=32), as compared with age- and sex-matched non-athletes (n=32). As part of the study, lung function testing (FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio) was undertaken using a Vitalograph wedge bellows spirometer.
