Tele-monitoring reduces exacerbation of COPD in the context of climate change -- A randomized controlled trial

This study examined the use of a home-based telemonitoring system for assessing the effects of heat stress (ie days >25°C) on clinical and functional status in 62 patients with COPD in Berlin, Germany; also assessed was the ability of the system to reduce the risk of exacerbation during and outside periods of heat stress. As part of the study, pulmonary function was measured using a handheld Vitalograph Asma-1 device.
