CanMuc: A Canadian consortium-led longitudinal observational study on the role of airway mucus in asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic cough

This paper describes the design of a longitudinal, multicenter, observational study that aims to identify and treat mucus occlusions in patients with asthma, COPD, and chronic cough; target recruitment will be 240 patients across the three respiratory disease groups. Outcomes of the study will include total cough frequency, awake cough frequency, and nocturnal cough frequency, which will be measured using the Vitalograph VitaloJAK cough monitoring system.
