Detection of COPD in the SUMMIT study lung cancer screening cohort using symptoms and spirometry

This study examined the prevalence, severity, clinical phenotype, and lung cancer risk of 16,010 former smokers with symptomatic undiagnosed COPD enrolled in a lung cancer screening cohort. To identify individuals with undiagnosed COPD, study participants underwent a respiratory symptom assessment in combination with spirometric testing using a calibrated Vitalograph Micro device.
