The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a predictor of acute exacerbations among patients with COPD in Uganda

Disease Areas:
COPD
Device Types:
Spirotrac,Pneumotrac

This study evaluated the relationship between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and the risk of respiratory hospitalization over 1 year in 312 patients with COPD in Uganda. A diagnosis of COPD was defined as an FEV1/FVC ratio of <0.7 with relevant symptoms (eg dyspnea, chronic cough, sputum production, wheezing/chest tightness) plus a history of risk factors. The FEV1/FVC ratio was determined using a Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
