Acute changes in handgrip strength, lung function and health-related quality of life following cardiac surgery

This prospective cohort study examined acute (ie within-hospital) changes in handgrip strength, lung function, and health-related quality of life in 101 adult patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery. Lung function testing in the pre-operative period and at physiotherapy discharge were conducted using a calibrated Vitalograph Alpha spirometer.
