Lung function in adults and future burden of obstructive lung diseases in a long-term follow-up

This cohort study examined the association between lung function in adults aged 30–49 years and burden of lung diseases during follow-up in Denmark; overall, 905 subjects were included in the study, with 27 years of follow-up. Lung function testing (FEV1, FVC) at baseline was undertaken using a Vitalograph wedge bellows spirometer, which was calibrated on a daily basis.
