Randomised, double blind, placebo-controlled trial of selenium supplementation in adult asthma

Disease Areas:
Asthma
Device Types:
In2itive

This randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluated whether selenium supplementation led to improvements in asthma-related QoL and other measures of asthma severity in adult asthmatic patients. The primary endpoint was asthma-related QoL score, per the Marks Asthma Quality of Life instrument; secondary endpoints included FEV1, FEV1/FVC ratio, FEF25–75, FEF25–75/FVC ratio, mean morning PEF, PEF variability, mean morning and evening asthma symptom scores, asthma-associated night-time waking, and bronchodilator use. Lung function endpoints were measured using a Vitalograph In2itive spirometer.
