Disease Areas:
COPD,AsthmaDevice Types:
Spirotrac,PneumotracThis study tested whether individuals aged 60–69 years with a low risk of cardiovascular disease were less likely to develop aging-related adverse health outcomes, as compared with subjects with an intermediate or high risk of cardiovascular disease; data were derived from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink database (n=239,591) and from healthy volunteers in the UK Biobank (n=181,820). The main outcomes were geriatric syndromes commonly diagnosed in older persons; incident events included all-cause mortality, cardiovascular events (eg coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure), dementia, depression, chronic anemia, cancer, asthma, and COPD. Pulmonary function (FEV1) was assessed using a Vitalograph Pneumotrac spirometer.
